21st Century Work Skills

A 21 year-old young adult has successfully held a low-wage job for 3 years.  He hasn’t received a promotion since he started.  He has low self-esteem and minimal parental support.  He is smart but the thought of presenting himself to a potential employer for evaluation is extremely intimidating and outside of his comfort zone.

This course is designed to prepare students to succeed in the workforce.  This program helps students develop strategies for setting and achieving goals, develop thinking, writing and language skills for the workplace, identify a career path, write a cover letter and resume, prepare for interviews, acquire skills to help keep a job and learn to appreciate diversity and solve workplace problems.

21st Century WorkSkills incorporates basic skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking); thinking skills (problem-solving and decision making); and interpersonal skills (strong work habits, positive attitudes and teamwork) into a work-related context.
