Give The Gift Of Literacy  The best gift of all is the gift of literacy.   A literate person can make better choices, communicate better, use new media technology to communicate, find information and resources, and break the bonds of poverty and underachievement to build better futures for the next generation.   When you support Literacy Action, Inc. you give the gift of literacy.    It costs approximately $2,000 to educate one adult for one year at Literacy Action. A $25.00 contribution buys an appropriate skill-level dictionary for one student. A $200 contribution will provide books and materials for one quarter. A $500 contribution will purchase dictionaries and reference materials for an entire class. A $1,000 gift will provide much-needed curriculum software for 100 students. A $5000 gift will create a first class learning lab. $25,000  supports a “Literacy Action on Wheels” class (held off site) that extends the reach and services to many more people OR supports the “Family Literacy Program” for one full year. Every dollar raised from individuals this year is being matched dollar for dollar up to $100,000.  Those gifts that are $2,500 and above are matched 2 to 1.
