Donor Recognition & Spotlight

Thank you to the Marilyn and Bill Voss Fund!

Literacy Action recently received a generous $1,000 gift from the Marilyn and Bill Voss Fund at The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, Inc. for the student transportation fund.

The education services and materials Literacy Action provides are free of charge to our students, but they are responsible for getting themselves to class.  Because the majority of them are low income, with most living below the poverty line, they often have to make difficult financial choices; bus fare or baby formula.

Literacy Action maintains a student emergency transportation fund to help address these needs.  Staff, teachers and students contribute to it.  But the dollars contributed are usually not sufficient to meet all emergency requests. With the gifts received from the Voss Fund, we will be able to say 'yes' to every student who needs a helping hand getting home to their families or to their job.
