“Helping people in any small way achieve their dreams is gratifying and an honor.”

A former HR Executive, Gina has been actively volunteering at Literacy Action Inc. (LAI) since September of 2010.  She has always had a passion for literacy advocacy. When previous volunteer opportunities arose at LAI, Gina was unable to give the time she wanted due to her hectic schedule.  Now, being able to volunteer at Literacy Action, she spends four hours a week as a teaching assistant in reading classes that meet Tuesday and Thursday. Gina is on hand to help students better understand course material and give them much needed positive reinforcement and feedback. For Gina, the experience of volunteering at LAI has been a rewarding one. She credits this opportunity with helping her have “a different perspective and greater appreciation for what adult learners have to go through."
