The Student Recognition Ceremony (SRC) is an annual event that allows Literacy Action the opportunity to recognize the accomplishments that all of our students have achieved throughout the past semesters.

While Literacy Action offers GED preparation classes, the majority of our students enter our program reading at or below a 5th grade level. Not all students enter with the goal to receive their GED, some come to us to raise their reading level or to simply fill out a check.

Our students are recognized for best attendance, completion of a level, their dedication to continuing their education, and more!
Students are not solely celebrated by Literacy Action staff and board of trustees, but also by community members and leaders who recognize their hard work and dedication. Every year a speaker is chosen to address the students and offer them words of strength and encouragement.
Past Student Recognition Ceremony Speakers Include:
Shirley Franklin-Former Mayor of Atlanta (2009)
Renee Glover-President and CEO of Atlanta Housing Authority (2010)
Paul Howard- Fulton County District Attorney (2011)
